My journey to a healthy, fit, skinny ME.

In everything you do, you’re going to hit a wall, where you’re exhausted, frustrated, and you just want to quit…It’s what you do after that moment that makes the difference. When you want to give up, it’s not about fitness, it’s about character. Pride. Commitment. Excellence.

So it begins....

So you might be wondering what prompted me to actually begin my weight-loss journey. I have been heavy most of my life. I did not inherit skinny genes from my parents, and I will admit that I love food (and have almost no will-power either). In May 2009 I began applying for the Air Force. It was at that point that I had a "real reason" to get in shape. But, needless to say I didn't actually do anything to get in shape. I used all the excuses in the book, but mostly I used the excuse of "I'm-a-nursing-student-so-I-can't-spend-the-time-exercising-because-I-have-to-study," and it was easier to eat junk in the cafeteria ,and don't forget the myriad of snack foods and soda during those many many many studying sessions. It wasn't until January 2011 that reality really set in for me. If I am accepted into the Air Force, I would be leaving for Commissioned Officer Training Camp in May. That means that I need to weigh under 175, be able to run 1.5 miles in under 16:22 min., complete 18 push-ups in 1 min, and 38 sit-ups in 1 min.... I have 103 days to meet my goals.
I technically started my weight loss journey the first of the year by starting a running program. At that time however I hadn't started watching my portion sizes. On Jan. 10th I joined Dr. Oz's 11 Week challenge and started to monitor how much I eat. I also began a sit-up and push-up program.

Starting Weight: 186

It has been one week since I began monitoring my portion sizes and started doing sit-ups and push-ups.
Current Weight: 181.8

My goal for this blog is to keep myself accountable by posting my workout results, calorie logs (and possibly pictures), and weigh-ins.
